I have had an interest in photography since being a teenager.  The first camera I bought was a Ricoh KR10 Super film SLR with a Pentax 50mm lens.  My dad and I converted the downstairs toilet into a darkroom and he taught me how to process film.  It started a life-long interest in the hobby.

In 2018, I was successful in gaining the Licentiate of the Royal Photographic Society Distinction.

In 2018 I set up my own business as a professional photographer.  My background in education as a teacher and leader is an asset when dealing with business clients and individuals.

Photography helps me see things differently.  It has made me much more mindful and appreciative of my surroundings and everything within it.  I find myself looking at things closely, watching and taking time.  It slows me down, it relaxes me; I can do it anywhere.

Professional Qualifications and Career History

BSc (Geology)

PGCE (Post-graduate Certificate in Education)

NPQH (National Professional Qualification for Headship)

LRPS (Licentiate of the Royal Photographic Society)

I have taught in five primary schools in Gloucestershire and Herefordshire.  I began my career in Gloucestershire as a KS2 class teacher and then senior teacher and county sports trainer.  Then I became a deputy head and leading teacher in Herefordshire.  This was followed by two headships.  I now work for Gloucestershire Adult Education as a tutor and assessor delivering BTEC Level 3 and 4 courses in Education and Training as well as a professional photographer.

My first headship was at Gorsley Goffs Primary School, Gorsley, between Newent and Ross-on-Wye, from 2004 to 2010. I led the school from being graded 'inadequate' by Ofsted just before arriving, to 'good' in 2007.

My second and most recent headship was at Naunton Park Primary School, Cheltenham, from January 2010 to June 2018.  The school was already rated 'good' by Ofsted when I  arrived.  I was delighted when, following an inspection in 2013, the school, staff and my leadership were judged to be 'outstanding' in all areas.  http://www.nauntonpark.gloucs.sch.uk/ofsted-report
